Science Committee, Staff Work Together to Perfect Amplify Science Curriculum

The Alain Locke Science Committee recently invited instructors to a workshop to perfect their teaching of Alain Locke’s new science curriculum.

The curriculum—entitled Amplify Science—is designed to inspire the next generation of scientific innovators by preparing K-8 students to think, read, write and argue like scientists and engineers. The curriculum moves students’ focus away from memorization and instead emphasizes active management.

The professional development event was an excellent opportunity for staff to work together to draw parallels between the new curriculum and the Scientific Method, the traditional framework for characterizing modern science.

Amplify Science meets 100 percent of the Next Generation Science Standards, which set widespread expectations for science in the classroom. It meets a large portion of Common Core ELA and Math standards.

We look forward to seeing our young scientists progress in the lessons!
