Six of our Alain Locke All-Stars have made us incredibly proud after being recognized for their outstanding projects at Chicago Metro History Day 2025.
After this year’s Chicago Metro History Day, hosted at the University of Illinois Chicago on Saturday, March 8, five of our All-Stars will now be advancing to the 2025 Illinois History Day State Contest. Not only that, but one All-Star received a special award for their project, too!
Let’s all give it up for our All-Stars for their excellent work on their projects:
- Rashad G.: “My Lai Massacre” (documentary)
- Jaedon I. and Taevyon M.: “The Meltdown That Changed History” (documentary)
- Elon W. and London W.: “The Swing for Integration” (exhibit)
- Malaya B. (Abner Mikva Award for Legal History winner): “Loving v. Virginia” (documentary)
We couldn’t be more excited as our All-Stars prepare to represent Alain Locke at this year’s statewide competition, which will be held downstate in Springfield on Thursday, May 1 at the Bank of Springfield Center. Way to go, All-Stars!
Special thanks, also, to our seventh and eighth grade social studies instructor, Mrs. Baran, for helping to make this all possible.
