We are thrilled to share today that Alain Locke Charter School has been named the No. 3 charter middle school in Illinois and earned a “Best” school recognition from U.S. News & World Report.
This is the first time ever that U.S. News—which publishes annual rankings of high schools and colleges—has ranked public K-8 schools. The list includes data from more than 80,000 public middle and elementary schools from around the country.

With its methodology for selecting top schools, U.S. News considered both students’ proficiency in state testing for math and reading, as well as how their performance aligned with expectations.
Alain Locke also received the “Best” title in U.S. News’s rankings of Illinois charter elementary schools.
