All-Stars and Families Celebrate African American History Month at Annual Heritage Bowl

The Alain Locke All-Stars and families had lots of fun celebrating African American History Month last week at our 2023-24 Annual Heritage Bowl.

This year’s event, for which the theme was “Heart and Soul: A Celebration of African Americans in Music,” featured a special performance by the Alain Locke Choir of “Lift Every Voice and Sing.” This was the perfect way for us to cheer the Choir on before they left to perform at Uniting Voices Chicago’s Black History Month Concert Series at Orchestra Hall in the Chicago Symphony Center.

Not only that, but we were also joined at our annual Heritage Bowl by Fox 32 Chicago’s Nate Rodgers, who was kind of enough to serve as our special guest judge and speaker.

None of this would have been possible if it weren’t for our amazing fourth grade instructor, Ms. Wilkerson, who put the entire event together and even hosted a study group for parents who participated in the Heritage Bowl!
