US News Names Alain Locke Among the Best

Since Alain Locke Charter School opened its doors in 1999, the academic excellence of our All-Stars has been at the core of our mission. As a family, we know that mission is just as important to you as it is to us—which is why we’re so excited to share this news with you!

Alain Locke was recently recognized for achieving that very mission on not one, but two, Best Schools lists released by U.S. News & World Report! Thanks to the dedication of our staff, students, and families, our school was named both a Best Elementary School and a Best Middle School of 2024.

This is no small feat: Of the 68,000 U.S. public elementary and middle schools that were evaluated by U.S. News, fewer than 1,100 earned both awards. From focusing on the fundamentals through education in core subjects to emphasizing creativity and individuality through art, music, and technology enrichment programs, we’re proud to promote the academic achievement and social growth of each and every student—and in 2024, we’re committed to offering more of the same.

In 1968, Martin Luther King Jr. said, “We’re going to let our children know that the only philosophers that lived were not Plato and Aristotle, but W. E. B. Du Bois and Alain Locke came through the universe.”

We strive to live up to those words and Alain Locke’s legacy of excellence—and we couldn’t do it without families like you. Thank you!
