Please note: Admission to Alain Locke is by blind lottery. Filling out an application does not ensure admission.

Complete one application per child.

  • Any student who is a resident of the city of Chicago is eligible to apply
  • If applying for pre-kindergarten, the student must be four years old by September 1, 2024
  • If applying for kindergarten, the student must be five years old by September 1, 2024
  • Completed application must be received by Friday, April 19, 2024
  • Alain Locke will continue to accept enrollment applications past the lottery date
  • The lottery will be held at 9 a.m. on Friday, April 26, 2024 at the school
  • Applicants eligible to fill the next openings are contacted by phone

2024-25 school year hours

  • School hours are 8 a.m. - 4 p.m., Monday through Thursday; all students are dismissed at 1 p.m. on Friday
