DESCRIPTION:Stepping Up with PARCC\nMarch 4\, 2015\n5:15-6:00 p.m.\nAlain Locke Charter School\, Gym\nChildcare and Refreshments will be provided \nAll students deserve access to a world-class education that will prepare them for success in college and careers.  To work toward that goal\, Illinois voluntarily adopted new\, more rigorous academic standards in 2010 called the Common Core Standards.   \nStarting March 10th\, every 3rd-8th grade student will be taking his/her first PARCC assessment in math and English language arts.  This assessment is designed to measure students’ progress toward the more rigorous Common Core Standards. These assessments are designed to serve as an educational GPS system\, identifying where students are excelling and where they may need extra help to get where they need to be. \nIf interested\, please join us on March 4th at 5:15 p.m. to learn more about the new PARCC assessment.  Also\, don’t forget to attend Report Card-Pick up on March 20th.  Talking with your child’s teachers about your child’s strengths and weaknesses will help you determine which skills to reinforce at home.   \nWorking together we can ensure that each student is ready to pursue any path in the future!
