We Invest in World-Class Teachers

We invest in passionate, innovative, committed teachers.  We recognize that to do their best, teachers need committed support from the entire school community.   At Alain Locke we provide our teaching staff with the support they need to be effective in the classroom and to continue their professional growth. 

• Small class size.  Classes are limited to a maximum of 25 students.
• Teacher associates.  Each classroom through 3rd grade has a teacher and a teacher associate.  Other teacher associates assist with enrichment and upper grade programs.  This allows for greater individualized instruction.
• Numerous opportunities to collaborate with colleagues.  The extended day allows time each week for teachers to meet and collaborate across grades.
• Administrative support in developing instructional and classroom management systems.  Administrators regularly observe classrooms and meet with teachers to support effectiveness in teaching.
• Teachers are also supported with on-site and off-site professional development.  The extended school day and year build time in for weekly on-site professional development sessions.  Teachers also attend off-site conferences and workshops.
• Opportunities for advancement.  Teaching staff is encouraged and supported in obtaining advanced certifications and endorsements, including national board certification.
