Our successes are not measured only by the percentage of growth our students achieve but also by the long-term impact, innovation, and leadership our alumni have on urban education.

Profiles in Leadership

  • Furthering the mission of becoming leaders in Chicago Public Schools, two alumni of ICTC have assumed principal positions. John Price (1997) and Katie Konieczny (2003) were named principals at Audubon Elementary School and Oscar Mayer Elementary School respectively.
  • Anik Zampini (2006) served as a School Leader in the UNO Charter School network and has now opened a new campus in the LEARN Charter School Network – LEARN Hunter-Perkins Campus.
  • Clem Martin (1998) has served as the principal for two school campuses, St. Frances of Rome and Our Lady of Charity in Cicero, Illinois. He is currently the executive director for Cicero Catholic Schools.
     

Innovators in Education

  • Alum Roel Vivit along with two other Golden Apple Award Winners developed and opened Polaris Charter Academy in 2007. Roel currently serves as the Dean of Curriculum and Instruction.
  • Kinder Excellence in Teaching Award Winner, David Ayala (2002) is the Principal at KIPP DC: Key Academy
     

Local and National Award Winners

  • Rosemary Mangosing Baker (2001) was one of five teachers named as a winner for the 10th anniversary Kohl McCormick Early Childhood Teaching Awards in 2005.
  • Ron Hale (2009) was a 2010 recipient of a Golden Apple Award. He became the third ICTC alum to receive this prestigious award. Jenny Sime (2003) was a 2006 recipient and Roel Vivit (2000) was a 2005 recipient.
  • Keelin Philippe (2002) was a recipient of the 2006 Presidential Award for Excellence in Teaching.
     

Rising Stars

  • Megan Burns (2004) was named as a Golden Apple Teacher of Distinction for 2010; Heather Kelsey (2003), Claudine Randolph (2003) and Veronica Ruelas (2000) were named Golden Apple Teachers of Distinction for 2008
  • Lisa Loq (2011), Maria DiDonato (2008) and TeNnile Ray (2004) were named "Heart of the School" Award Winners in the Rising Star category by the Archdiocese of Chicago
  • Sarena Johnson (2009) was named the WGN Teacher of the Month
